In recent years we have seen an explosion of studies exploring the future of work and assessing their effects on the global economy. We are increasingly concerned with Megatrends associated with: the rapid pace of globalisation and shifts in economic demands; social and demographic changes; issues around environmental sustainability and climate change; rapid technological developments; innovations in the workplace and ways of working; and changes in politics and governments. These trends combined with ongoing economic shocks such as the financial crisis and now with the Covid-19 pandemic are creating a new norm shaped by disruption and uncertainty.
But, how many of us really contemplate the specific implications of such big picture events for ourselves in our various areas of work, types of organisations and our differing roles?
This free webinar is open to all those interested in this challenge. The webinar is an OctoberVet event organized by AVETRA – the Australasian Vocational Education and Training Research Association. OctoberVET events aim to showcase VET research and promote discussion between VET stakeholders.
The webinar will take place on the evening of Wednesday 21 October between 7 and 8 pm.
Lesley Giles is currently Director of Work Advance, undertaking analysis and evaluation, and providing policy advice around skills, employment and workplace innovation and the world of work.
Until recently she was Director at the Work Foundation. Lesley was also Deputy Director and Company Secretary at the UK Commission for Employment and Skills, providing guidance on skills and employment issues, with a particular focus on supporting business-led action and innovation.
